nanostructures with three-dimensional confinement (see Figure 1). They have received much attention from researchers in the field of condensed matter over the last two decades [1-5], mostly due to their particular magnetic response. When a QR charged with an excess electron is pierced by a magnetic field perpendicular to the ring plane, the Aharonov-Bohm (AB) [6, 7] effect gives rise to persistent currents and oscillations of the electron ground state energy. The AB effect is a pure quantum effect, theoretically predicted in 1959 [6] and experimentally confirmed in mesoscopic QRs many years later [8, 9]. However, mesoscopic QRs are not the ideal playground for investigating the Aharonov-Bohm effect, as they are subject to heavy scattering coming from electron-electron, electron-impurity and electron-phonon interactions.
